Summer Zermatt through my lens

Zermatt is a car-free city located in Switzerland and most of people has known Zermatt as a famous of a mountaineering and ski resort of the Swiss Alps. But in summer time can be experienced and enjoyed in over 100 different ways.

I visited there in September 2015. The Shine Summer of Zermatt but the weather is still cold in the morning. Warm clothes are needed even it’s a summer!

You can go to Zermatt either by train or car. The train will go straight to Zermatt and its station is in the downtown but if you go there by car like me, you need to park your car at the car park and contact your hotel or local electric taxi to pick you up as they don’t allow normal car to get in the town. Only pollution-free electric car is allowed!

Zermatt is calm and peaceful place. I enjoyed walking around the downtown very much! In the village, you can see the horse car riding around. People will take their own pet walking on the street and also the flower is blooming. Here in summer time, I believe it’s popular as much as in the winter time.

A must visit place in Zermatt is Matterhorn! It is also known as the Toblerone mountain since it is the model for the Toblerone chocolate. The triangular shape of the Matterhorn in the Swiss Alps is commonly believed to have given Theodor Tobler his inspiration for the shape of Toblerone.

You can visit Matterhorn in many ways but I chose cable car! Ticket Vending Machine is available for you but buying ticket from ticket box seller is much easier for a first-time-visit traveler like me. Buying roundtrip ticket is much cheaper than one way ticket.

There were 3-4 cable car stops until you reach the nearest place to Matterhorn but I went up only 2nd stops called “Schwarzsee”. Only 2nd stop and you can feel like you are very closed to Matterhorn! The cable takes around 10-15 mins from the down to Schwarzsee. You can see the whole village during cable up.

Once you arrive the Schwarzsee, you will see a truly BIG Matterhorn! Like you can reach it in your hand : )
